I'm late but there's a winner

Yes, I was going to post a winner yesterday but that didn't get done.--skip to the bottom for that late breaking news. I'm back from my trip. On the last day as we were waiting to get on a shuttle golf cart to get our rental car, I decided I should at least look at the water since I was in the area. I walked to the balcony outside the lobby and got a view of the Caribbean. It was lovely but I was done and ready to go back home.


I arrived home around 11 so Bug was sleeping. I not-so-secretly hoped he would wake up during the night a pretty safe bet these days so I could say hi. He didn't disappoint. I heard him about 1:30 and he wandered into our room as I was getting up to see him. He saw me and hugged/fell into me...it was sweet. I decided that he should come and snuggle in our bed. That morning this is what I awoke to:


Bug: Mommy, do you know how much I love you? I'm gonna show you...but first I have to get this pookie out of my nose."


(Pause while I wait for the nosepicking to end and find a tissue...sigh)


Bug: THIS much (with arms spread out as far as possible).


That tops a view of the water any day. There's no place like home.

Snowmaggedon, Snowpocalypse, Snowtorious...and other non-snow stuff

There are names flying all over the place for the blizzard that hit DC this weekend. We measured just over 28 inches in our area. Donnie and I have been shoveling and Bug announced this morning that it was his turn to shovel BY MYSELF. (In good time, little man, I'm guessing around 2017 you'll get your chance.) I'll post some pictures soon when I get my act together and can upload to my OWN computer...this is a loaner but I think you get the idea that our area is blanketed at the moment.

Bug saw the snow and decided Christmas is coming so we watched our share of holiday DVDs over the weekend and had hot chocolate (thank God I remembered to get more whipped cream!). The one who doesn't care for the snow...little Miss Clara. Thirteen inches of dog and 28 inches of snow isn't a fair matchup for the little pup.

I'm still patting myself on the back for buying snowboots this winter! They've been tested a few times and are snugly warm. Good thing...we're supposed to get more snow this week. One report I saw said one inch...another said 5-10. This is why we're always surprised when we actually get snow in this area!

Oh, how I struggle trying to be organized. I should have reserved a copy of One Year to an Organized Life for me but I would rather live vicariously. However, today I'm feeling pretty good because: I folded the multiple loads of clean clothes that had become a fixture on our couch and made tonight's dinner yesterday. That should count for something, right? Please? Pretty please?

Bug is at preschool! Highlights for Bug: seeing two trash trucks, six (really, six) school buses, two police cars and saying hello to one police officer and two city workers on the walk to school. Quite a bit of action in those few blocks this morning. Highlight for me: I mentioned to Bug's teacher that I had his EpiPen and Benadryl and without missing a beat she recited Bug's allergies to me and went through the procedures if he has a reaction. Whew, that almost made me cry.


Now I'm patiently waiting for the mail to arrive. My order from amazon should be here today and I would love to start my new book True Confections now that the clothes are folded and dinner is made.
