Highlight of my day (it's 8:13am): I bought a hot chocolate and it was 20% off! I love unexpected little bits of joy.
Yesterday I had a call from Bug's preschool. He ate part of a cookie with egg in it. The teacher immediately gave him Benadryl and there was no need for an EpiPen. So after one week of school he came home with an Unlucky Duck report.
I seem to be struggling with some up and down, side to side and allovertheplace emotions these days. I'm calling it my new year funk and hoping it doesn't last much longer. It's really NO fun and neither am I these days.
New cookware equals more interest in cooking. I've been having fun trying new recipes with my new stuff. It makes my old kitchen a bit more interesting. I think Donnie was surprised that I wanted cookware for Christmas but explained that if I ask for it, it's okay. If it's his idea it might not be the perfect gift.

Haha! I am right there with you- If I ASK for a kitchen item, then it's the perfect gift. But if you give it to me as some sort of suggestion or assumption...then watch out. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about kitchen gifts, I asked for a bigger slow cooker but if it had just been given then all kinds of fallout would have occurred along the lines of, "Do I not cook enough, already?" or "You want me to plan meals hours not minutes, in advance?"
ReplyDeleteYep, if you ASK for it it's fine, if he just bought it it would be a no-no.
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone in the New Year Funk. We're all in one.
The hubby has that same problem...if asked for it is a perfect gift but please don't think of me when you see cooking and cleaning stuff!! LOL
ReplyDeleteYep the funk is here! I love getting new kitchen stuff. It always makes me more inspired to try new recipes. Have fun cooking!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's safe to say that us women suffer from the off again/on again funk. Wish it would funk off already. Did the cocoa come with some malibu? So..they know he's not supposed to have egg and he got it anyway? Not good if so.
ReplyDeleteHappy cooking :) So true on the gift/not a gift thing - it's always ok if you ASK for it lol!
ReplyDeleteHope your funk goes away soon - I was having one but it seems to be improving - making lists helps! and I'm also trying to make sure I take some time to do something I WANT to do everyday, then tackle a small chore or something.
An unlucky duck report. I love the name. I think I'll start writing them for my husband to read when he gets home from work.
ReplyDeleteI think this time of year is hard for most of us. We're all in a communal funk.
You know I feel your pain.
ReplyDeleteI love what you said about it being okay if you ask for the cookware...haha. so true. What have you been cooking?
An Unlucky Duck Report...so sad. :(
I've noticed a lot of people dealing with the funk. I'm blaming it on the hellacious weather and hoping it's going to end soon.
ReplyDeleteI love kitchen stuff for gifts even if I dont ask for it!
ReplyDeleteLove the unlucky duck name for the report. And kitchen wares are always welcomed here. A vacuum would not be unless I wanted it!
