Friday Follow & F-Bomb Friday

Really, how adorable is this?!

Friday Follow

I saw this button on Desert Rose Moments earlier this week and of course, had to check it out. It's Friday so click above, link up and find some new blogs.

Joy oh joy...it's Friday and so far I haven't broken a computer or three in two days! I'm feeling a bit smug about that. Donnie arrived home this morning (kudos to him for taking a redeye flight...I'm not so much a fan of those anymore...I like sleeping in my bed).

While Donnie was gone this week, I woke up one night startled by a noise. I lay still in bed trying to make sense of the odd knocking...almost Morse code or what I imagine Morse code would sound like from the old movies or Gilligan's Island when it hits me. It's a mouse in our bedroom wall! Okay, we live in an old house (not Civil War-old but it could receive social security checks at this point) so it's not surprising that we have the occasional mouse (note the use of the singular form of the word).

I've learned I really don't do well when I know there is a little thing with a tail in my house (now that I think of it even my dog doesn't have a tail). Years ago right after college I slept on the floor in my friend's house after seeing a mouse on the floor in the same room. It didn't bother me and I didn't mention anything because I didn't want to offend him. In my mom's house there was a mouse scurrying across the floor when construction was going on (she truly becomes weak at the sight of a mouse so I come by my squeamishness honestly) and I tried to get it. I've learned that it's a different ballgame altogether when the little fuckah is in my house. I want him (again, let's think singular) out. NOW.

Our weekend calendar is completely blank, which puts a smile on my face. Well, Bug does need a haircut but with nothing else going on I think we can squeeze that in. I'm thinking the weekend will consist of some playtime, naptime, reading, a little football, possibly a movie (rental, of course, we're trying to avoid more babysitting expenses this month) and a call to the exterminator.

Go visit MiMi at Living in France for more F-Bomb Friday talk.

  1. We have a cat and a Mini Schnauzer (originally bred to catch vermin) and a 1930 tudor. When we got a mouse a while back, I screamed at them "You freeloaders! you have one job in this life!" Two days later, the cat presented me with a carcass. The moral of this story: You gotta teach 'em who's boss.

  2. Oh yeah, it's got to go! I couldn't rest either. I'd be waiting for it to find the one little opening where it can come in the house!

  3. We had mice (not singular) while our house was under construction and I was LOSING it. It creeped me out to no end to hear them (again, not singular) partying in the attic. That didn't last long. We paid good, good money to make that little problem go away and it was well worth it. eeeeeehhh, I get all uncomfortable even remembering it.

I'm so bummed I forgot to jump on Mimi's F Bomb train this week. Damn!

  4. And to think that at one time I bought a couple of little white mice as pets for my daughter when she was younger...oh the horror, nasty little carnivores that eat their own when they die off! Lesson learned! Enjoy your weekend! And the Friday Follow is awesome!..glad you found it!

  5. I had a 1914 house once and it got mice. I had this charming image of a little mouse family living in a cozy hole in the baseboard, sleeping in little match-box beds a la Stuart Little... Then I found the little bastards in the cupboards and little mouse turdies laying around and they went from charming story-book characters to vermin in a nano-second!!!
Get a cat and stop at nothing until you get the little sucker!

  8. Little fuckah! LOL!
Yeah, my husband's parents had an infestation once...we would see turds in the pantry and stuff. It was sick. But the topper was one night when my husband (he was a teen then) woke up because of a weird noise. He looked around his room and where the wood paneling (yeah, 1970's wood paneling) was coming away from the wall a mouse was peeking through at him! He did what any sensible guy would do. He ran out to the garage and got duct tape. Taped the wall down. When back to bed. Yikes.

  9. I find it ironic that when I just left that comment the captcha word was "swine"....we were talking about mice not pigs!

  11. We had pet mice. Two girls...or not because one of them became pregnant pretty quickly. Had a litter of 5. They look like little jelly beans. Two days later I called the pet store to find out how long I had before she could get pregnant again. He told me about 2 or 3 hours. WTF.
Litter number two had 6 babies. I had my sons run into the house one day to gather the babies to take them to the pet store along with the daddy. He came out with 10 babies and the daddy. One of the little fucahs had escaped into the house. We didn't find it for days and then the cat got involved and flushed it out. It bit me when I grabbed it. Double fucah.
To this day we refer to this as mouse's big adventure. We are a weird family.

  12. We HAD pet rats, for a while... by my 4 years old request. I hate them, mice too, especially when they are in MY house...

Oh, my hubs just redid his laptop so I could use it.... he's counting down how many days it will take before I trash it. Cuz, I'm good like that!

Found you at Trendy Treehouse! Added you to my follow and my google reader!
