Sssshhh, I'm wishing I were reading

I'm thankful that I still have a job but today am tempted to jeopardize it. I have a sign on my door that says: Leave me alone, I'm reading! Oh, I wish I brought my book to work so I could shut my door and put that sign to good use. I'm reading The Help and feeling addicted to it. There won't be much reading time this weekend. Donnie's parents are coming to town for Rosh Hashanah. Donnie's Jewish and I'm Catholic so we celebrate lots of things at our home. My mother-in-law read The Help (and--like everyone else I know--loved it) so I think she'll understand if I say good night a little early and read.

Any thoughts on what should be my next addiction, I mean book?

  3. The most memorable book that I have ever read is called Me and Emma. Written by Elizabeth Flock. I LOVED that book.

  4. Me and Emma IS AWESOME. I can't wait to start The Help, I know that's gonna be our pick next month because everyone's voting for it! :)

  5. I do believe you've inspired me to write a post about books that I would recommend, cause I can't simply narrow it down to one:) And ironically, I was just talking to a friend the other day about how I thought it should be acceptable to call "in reading" to work, rather than call "in sick".

  6. The Help is sitting on my shelf taunting me - I'm working through library books first, because they have to be returned. Just finished Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and The Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. Enjoyed both. Currently reading A Walk in the Woods. On deck? Reading Like a Writer and Unaccustomed Earth - then - The Help. :-)

  7. Oh, I want a good book to be addicted to. Do you really really love this one? Sounds like you do, I just want to make sure before I run out and buy it.

I second the Poisonwood Bible. One of my favorite books ever. I have a lot of recommendations...what's your favorite genre?

  9. I wish I had time to read. When I do, I'm too tired. Gotta make that change. I miss reading.

  10. Hhmmmm.... I am intrigued.

I have just been reading mindless books. Sookie Stackhouse novels (True Blood), Stephanie Plum series, and (ducking my head in embarrassment) the Twilight series.

    Hey. Don't judge. ;)

  11. I hope you have a nice visit with your in-laws and that you get some reading time in as well.

I need to find a good book that I can get lost in. I'll have to check this one out!

  12. I'm reading a book about Jack Russells...I don't think that would be interesting to you though. Enjoy The Help!

And Me and Emma, I read that too, it is heart breakingly well written book.
